Who Buys Voice Tracking?
Stations that are automated or partially automated
but wish to sound live all the time. Voice
Tracking gives the listener the feeling that
live DJs are sitting there manning the station
and keeping them company. More and more stations
are moving to voice tracking and station content
to avoid the headaches associated with being
in charge of actual live DJs who can be costly
in time or money. Stations that use live "sounding"
DJs develop a personality that listeners can
identify with.
If your listener identifies with your station,
they become more and more interested in tuning
in frequently. All voice tracking is dry-voiced
(no sound effects or beds) for the purpose
of sounding live.
They're called tracks because they are just
that - tracks of things DJs say tossed in
between music sets. They are not sweepers
- voice tracks are typically anywhere from
15 to 60 seconds in length.
Types of Tracking:
Generic Tracking - These
are DJs talking about things relivant to your
station but do not mention your station name
or specific things about your station such
as website addresses and so forth.
Custom Tracking - As above
but includes your station name or specific
information about your website or upcoming
events.
